The current location was built by Vicksburg Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church, founded in 1898 in a storefront on Cherry Street. Due to a schism in the church, the congregation split in two, with fundraising starting in 1913 by half of the members to find a new location and construct a new house of worship. A new site was chosen at 713 Bowmar and construction was completed in 1915. Reverand TW Green was the first minister at the new location.
Years later, Vicksburg Bowmar would sell the building to Travelers Rest in the early 2000s. They would move to S. 61, and shortened the name to Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church and later changed it again to Crossway
For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?
